The Birth

By Soumik Kumar De

A drop

Mixes in the cake—

The lake midst the valley,

The ‘V’-shaped valley,

So pious with its herbs and shrubs

And the fragrance that comes thereto—

Tantalizes the sage’s mind.

The lavender valley

So smooth, so soft, so sober,

Slopes down the mounds—

The tomb shaped mounds

That shelters the sage

In his meditation, in elation.

The drop now

Elevates the serene lake,

The lake was thirsty of it.

Both now merge

They tremble and tremble and tremble.
