The Timed Days for the Mean by Kolawole Mathew Ogundipe

The Timed Days for the Mean

Virtually all the activities

         of peoples

specifically the wretched

        Are subdued

by time these days

not by regulations

            but

by circumstances

Yielded not gaiety to peoples

     Timed Days!

       To dine

Time considered

because of the meagre income

in the bank of the body

              and

insufficient stomach instruments

That  make one living

     Timed Days!

     To journey

Time considered

Waiting until the sunset

Frankly speaking,

Walking under the sunshine

Good not for the health

Waiting under the sunshine

for add and drop cabs

at the roadside as well, not good

But what one can do?

when one’s pocket,

     one’s purse

Does not speak goodness

      These Days,

      Timed Days!

To go to the market

For things needed:

food items, clothing

and other goods

Time considered

Some prefer to wait

till almost the dusk

In order to get leftover goods

        in cheap

 Timed Days,

Time my time good

These Times, that people

Can talk good about me

During and after my times.
