The Life We Earn by Boyiejide Jude

 The Life We Earn

An unpredictable journey,

With paths of storms,

A life given by birth,

A life taken by death.

Bring forth life in skin,

Yet; we strive for cover,

Return in skin,

Living our covers for the living.

Warm is my birth bed,

For the journey is started,

Cold is my lying bed,

The journey is ended.

All life's journey; we work

For cover; we strive,

Now a new cold journey has begun,

With nothing to take home.

Why strive for nothing?

Why live a life of vain?

Vanity! It is for all gone,

Yet; the living still strive

We cover our skin in warmth,

When hope lingers,

But we make open our skin in the cold,

Where hopelessness lies.
